§ 32-30. Firearms discharge prohibited; exceptions.

  • (a)

    Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, it is unlawful to fire or discharge any gun, pistol, or other firearm or weapon, including bows and arrows and sling shots, within the city limits except for the use of a bow and arrows (but not a crossbow) at the archery range in Riverside Park, provided the bow is cased when being carried to and from the range.

    (b)

    Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit any firing of a gun, pistol or other weapon when in lawful defense of person, property or family, or in the necessary defense or enforcement of laws or as permitted by the federal fish and wildlife service on land it owns within the city.
